The history of The Art of Living in Hungary starts in 2002. It was in Leipzig after the Maha Live Sudarshan Kriya with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in August when He told to Marcel to go with Sanjiv Kakar – an Indian teacher from Delhi – to Hungary. “We will do something there” He said. Sanjiv and Marcel made an appointment at the airport in Frankfurt. They immediately started to make a list of all the people they could contact. Arrived in Budapest the first thing was to open the office and to start calling the people. The same evening the first person came to their house. Every day meetings happened, the first Introductory talk was organized in  3 days, an Intro at the University and finally they arrived at the Indian Embassy where the first course started. The first week they spent only with organizing and after that 3 courses happened. In the first there were only Indians, the second was mixed, Hungarians and Indians, and the third only Hungarians and International people. The first great help came from Sandra, an American lady married with a Hungarian. She did the course some time ago when Eberhard took a course there and she did the Advanced course at the German Ashram. In the summer 2003 the first group from Hungary came to meet Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in Germany, in autumn 2003 we had the first Part 2 course in Hungary and the first Hungarians came in 2004 to take the Part 3 course with Guruji. Until end of 2005 we had 14 courses and in total 188 participants in Budapest.

In May 2003 “The Art of Living Association Hungary” has been founded and since 2005 we  have “The Art of Living Foundation Hungary”.

Every 2 month we have at least one Introductory talk with a long Sudarshan Kriya follow up session. At the moment around every 3 month a Part 1 course is happening. The regular weekly Satsang with the short Sudarshan Kriya tape was conducted by Zoli until end of 2005.

In 2006 three ladies, Kati, Kata and Viktoria participated on the international TTC1 in India, right before the Silver Jubilee mega events. This year an international Part 1 course took place in Budapest, where teachers from the British School also participated. Zoli, Kati and Kata went to Bad Antogast to attend on the wonderful Blessings Course, thus strengthening the Hungarian group. We have regular follow-ups every Thursday, and now we are starting an ‘open AOL evening’ for the public on Saturdays.

Testimonials

Some experience sharing and pictures:

“I thank all the beauty which I have received during this course. I have collected a big big joy inside during this course. It was amazing to experience how it was possible to wake up smiling, to walk on the street smiling while my heart is full of bliss. And interesting to observe myself what I am doing. Am I in the present moment? I didn’t imagine that this few days could have such an effect on me. I also feel that to maintain this happiness in me regular practice is necessary.”

Timea

“Thanks for the training and teachings, I immensely enjoyed the 4 days. I am doing it every morning!!!”

Veronika

“Every day I remember You and the whole group. Because every morning I’m doing the practice, the Yoga and the breathing. It’s wonderful for everything: the soul, the body and the self… And I remember often the fish, who is searching the water in the ocean!”

For me it was obvious that I have to go to Bad Antogast. I had received from the basic course such peace and harmony, that I knew I have to find out, what can come, if any, after the meditations with Sanjiv. After the basic course in March 2003, we attended the semi advanced in Piliscsaba in October. Three days of silence, only you and your sensations. It’s not easy, but very exciting, sometimes – I have to admit - frightening. Four of us (Anita, Kata, Kati Zoli) went to Bad Antogast, and there was Marcel – for me the embodied “goodness” – and there was Adina from Romania, also a student from Sanjiv. At the beginning we did not know, why we had gone there, old bathrooms, many people in the bedroom, a lot of unknown persons, and seva, for us with Kata, collecting garbage ... There was a Polish lady in the room, seeing how frightened we are, who told, do not worry, it will be OK in the evening. Yes, it became much better, it was good to be among 260 people from 37 countries, from different cultures, though bound together by the breath, and the mantras of the satsang. Five days of silence, five days with yourself from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Yoga, kriya, meditations, presentations, satsang, not to forget about the seva, and the lonely walks in the mountains. Celebrating silence. Guruji’s book. We had just finished its translation to Hungarian. Yes, this week was about it. We celebrated silence. We celebrated that in the silence there is only peace and love, harmony and joy, all the differences disappear, there is only acceptance, and everybody belongs to you. You also have to try, do the semiadvanced, and go for the advanced in Bad Antogast, or in India. We have asked Guruji, which book he suggests to translate into Hungarian. He told, the “Wisdom for the New Millenium”. Please contact me, in case you are interested. The more we are, the sooner it will be finished.
