Mexico teaches in dangerous neighborhoods

In one of the most dangerous and marginalized communities in Mexico the Art of Living together with the Mexican National government and the prevention of crime secretariat, have launched the "Chalco for Peace" program.

The program which will include courses for thousands of children, teachers and parents in impoverished areas aims at reducing high rates of violence which schools and neighborhoods have gone through in the past 10 years.

"We can not have peaceful societies if we stressed individuals" mentioned the leaders of this project.

This campaign will benefit over 10.000 young people at risk of drug dealers alcohols, violence and poverty. Art of Living teachers will teach, " YES+! YES and Art excel courses sponsored by the municipal and national government, as well as Breath, Water and Sound.

This project started last November and will last 8 months in its first stage. Further negotiations are taking place to continue.

Other associations such as the Mexican Institute of Culture, Sport, The Directorate for Education and Culture of the Municipality and the Youth Integration Centers, who have scheduled conferences and workshops to inform and educate the public about the risk factors that generate violent behavior.
