Being in silence must be difficult for some of you. But you will realize the value of silence, and how our energy is spent by talking .
When that talking channel is closed, you will find so much of your energy focused inward. You feel how beautiful and how wonderful you are, in silence. This realization starts happening.
You will have to listen to knowledge again and again. Then it will be firmly established in you. But it will take some time.
When you dye a piece of cloth, what do you do? You dip the cloth in the dye and dry it. And you repeat the process again and again.
When you paint your house, you paint it with three or four coats and dry it every time. Isn't it? Similarly, when you keep listening to knowledge repeatedly, the mind becomes pure and strong.
You need to make people see life from a bigger perspective. When they see life with a wide angle lens, then their whole idea, or opinion will change. Otherwise the world seems so small, and we go around in little circles of fifteen, to twenty people. Within that small circle you will have cravings, aversions, anger, jealousy, and greed. All these negative emotions keep rattling you. This happens because you have not expanded your vision about your own life.
It is not possible to explain these intricate things in one or two sentences. Detailed explanations are already done in Hindi and English. I will arrange to translate it into Tamil and make a CD. You listen to it, and you will see your mind will become clear.
Bhagavad Gita says that there are three types to everything. Intellect is of three types, happiness is of three types, love is of three types (satva, rajo and thamo). Bhagavad Gita talks about meaning of life, and how to overcome grief and so on. These truths are relevant to all times, and applicable to all people. It is the giver of eternal bliss.
There is no extent to bliss. If there is an extent then it is not bliss. A child feels happy if you give him a peanut candy. If you give the same to an older boy, he will throw it away. He will feel happy with a toy or something to play. A young man may not like toys at all, he will want friends or good company.
So as we grow we find pleasure in different things according to our age.
Wise people will find happiness inbuilt, and as a part of their nature. Some people find pleasure in eating and some find joy in not eating! In foreign countries, they take fruit juice and salads and it is very much appreciated. They boast of not eating a full meal for a year or two and they take pride in such things! How human beings find pleasure, is spoken about in the Upanishads, and also by saints such as Tirumoolar, Thirugnana Sambandhar. They have clearly indicated what bliss is. Read these verses, they are very nice.
After sixteen years you must treat your children like friends.
Nowadays, when children turn twelve or thirteen, you need to treat them like friends. Do not dictate terms to them, or be authoritative. Show love, be kind and friendly. Of course it is difficult a task, yet deal with them patiently and tactfully.
A state in which you are neither sleeping, dreaming or awak. That fourth state of consciousness is turiya avastha.
When you meditate you are not sleeping, you are not dreaming, you are also not awake. That state is called turiya avastha.
There is no ‘we should crave for’. It is a natural phenomenon. You want the best, isn't it? Wanting the best is a natural phenomenon for every human being. And it is important to have the faith that only best will come to me. That is it.
