Shivratri comes from the word Shiva and Ratri (night). It is the time to rest in the formless with alertness. This formless Divinity is Shiva. To simply wake-up and experience this Shiva tattva is Shivratri.

When we meditate we go off the influence of the mind and into the self. Shiva tattva is always benevolent, caring, loving and uplifting. Consciousness deep within, is caring, loving, uplifting and benevolent and will nullify the negative influences on the mind. This is experienced through meditation.

Meditation is very rare combination of simplicity, profoundness and depth. It is the only way to transform fear and hatred into love. It helps lay foundation of a stress-free, violence-free society. It brings relaxation and peace inside and outside. Meditation, when done in large groups becomes a yagna (vedic ritual) and creates waves of peace within and outside.
