Lord Indra composed and chanted the Mahalakshmi Ashtakam to invoke the Divine Mother and seek her blessings for attaining his desires. The word Lakshmi comes from the word ‘Lakshya’ in Sanskrit, which means goal. Offering prayers to Goddess Lakshmi with devotion helps you reach your goals. Devi Mahalakshmi stands for Ashta Lakshmi, or eight kinds of wealth.
Significance of Mahalakshmi Ashtakam
To invoke the blessings of the Divine Mother and to have a prosperous and peaceful life, devotees chant Mahalakshmi Ashtakam. The chant is considered one of the most auspicious prayers, the mantra brings forth and nurtures auspicious qualities and takes one to the realization of the Self.
