The inspiration behind Sumeru Software was H. H. Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Sumeru started with just two people and today there are over 300 employees in more than 30 countries. The central theme is of two words - 'Prospering responsibly'. The vision and value of Sumeru is around this sentiment of sharing prosperity with society. It's not so difficult to comprehend that a profit oriented organization can have a social vision, can have a spirituality blend-in with the vision to succeed in life.
The organization aspires to be so successful that it is a model for other organizations, so that other companies can also follow suit and know that it is possible to 'prosper responsibly'. The passion that even the management of Sumeru have, is that it's not just a job, but it's the theme, the desire to give back to society, which really comes from being spiritual. There are about 50 odd women who work with Sumeru. Here are some statements made by them about their work place, "In Sumeru, spirituality and professionalism go hand in hand, I don't compromise one for the other."
"It epitomizes an organization where we move from 'me' to 'we'."
Sound Bites
- Everyone believes that if you want to make money, if you want to be successful, it has to be at the expense of others. In Sumeru, this is not the belief, we believe that I can make money, I can do well in life as an organization and I can also ensure that my client makes money, my employees make money and with the money the company makes we give back to society. It’s not just about profits for us or the bonus cheque that you get, but making money so that you give something back to the society, to social development. So the whole vision and value of Sumeru is around this. It’s so difficult to comprehend that a profit oriented organization can have a social vision, can have a spirituality blend-in with the vision to succeed in life.
