A Bhangra record De-addiction program marks Punjab tour
Ludhiana, Punjab, November 9, 2010: Spiritual leader and The Art of Living founder, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will carry a message of peace and harmony on his five-day tour to Punjab from Nov 9 -13. Gurudev will address lakhs of people over a series of satsangs and public interactions in Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Amritsar and Jalandhar.
The highpoint of his tour will be his visit to the Wagah border. The spiritual leader who promotes the concept of 'One World Family' will give a message of peace at the Wagah border on November 12. "His visit to the Wagah border will underline his mission of bringing peace and harmony to the world," said Sejal Thakkar, International Faculty of The Art of Living.
Carrying the same message of human bonding to Amritsar, Gurudev will inaugurate ‘Saanjh’, a musical concert based on the Indo-Pak peace mission where artists from both countries will showcase their talents on a shared platform.
Another highlight will be on November 11 when Ludhiana will witness the largest performance of Punjabi folk dance - the Bhangra - with 2,100 dancers in the presence of Gurudev. Titled ‘ Mehran De Rang’, the event organized by The Art of Living, will be considered for the Guinness World Book of Records for an unprecedented number of Bhangra dancers performing together on one stage.
Also on Gurudev's agenda is to create a drug-free and alcohol-free state of Punjab. Lakhs of people will take an oath during his public satsangs and talks to free Punjab of the alcohol and drug menace. On November 10, he will lead a Drug De - addiction ‘Maha Sammelan’ in Jhakkar village which is expected to be attended by 25,000 beneficiaries of The Art of Living's Drug De-Addiction Program.
Gurudev will also address educationists at Ludhiana. This will be followed by the inauguration of Art of Living’s meditation centre that is a replica of the Vishalakshi Mantap (meditation hall) at The Art of Living’s Bangalore headquarters on November 11.
On his visit to Chandigarh on November 9, he addressed the students of MCM – DAV College, Chandigarh, on the topic of ‘Global Environmental Issues and Climate Change’ followed by a satsang and meditation session titled “Meditation for World Peace”.
Gurudev’s five-day tour of Punjab will culminate with prayers at the Golden temple and the Durgiana temple in Amritsar on November 13, 2010.
