The Art Of Living
Founded in 1981 by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, The Art of Living is a not-for-profit, educational and humanitarian NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) engaged in stress management and service initiatives. The organization operates globally in 151 countries.
Guided by Gurudev’s philosophy of peace – “Unless we have a stress-free mind and a violence-free society, we cannot achieve world peace” – The Art of Living’s stress-management programs help individuals overcome stress and experience inner peace. Comprising breathing techniques, meditation and yoga, these programs have helped millions around the world to overcome a range of stresses: from day-to-day ones to those related to trauma depression and violent tendencies.
The Art of Living has promoted peace and socio-economic development across communities through diverse humanitarian projects including conflict resolution, disaster relief, sustainable rural development, women empowerment, prisoner rehabilitation, education for all and environmental sustainability initiatives.
Vista India
VISTA is an independent non-governmental organization dedicated to fighting poverty and gender-related injustice in India, specifically designed for marginalized women. VISTA India was started in 1985 near Bangalore, India, to bring self-esteem, confidence and inner strength to rural women. This was done by providing women with the skills and training necessary for economic self-sufficiency. Since 1999, VISTA has facilitated vocational training workshops, self-development programs and adult education classes for more than 5,000 rural women across India.
Ved Vignan Maha Vidya Peeth
Ved Vignan Maha Vidya Peeth is an educational, charitable trust in India committed to making holistic education accessible to children in rural areas. VVMVP provides free education, transportation, uniforms, books, stationery, mid-day meals, and other facilities that are required to give the students quality education. The first VVMVP school was founded in 1981 with 30 children enrolled. Today the school provides value-education to more than 30,000 children, most of whom are first generation learners. Characterized by a zero-percent attrition rate and twenty-five percent pass rate, girls constitute 47% of the school’s student population. Replicating this successful model, VVMP currently operates 299 schools across India.
IAHV
IAHV is an international humanitarian and educational non-governmental organization committed to promoting resurgence of human values in all aspects of life across the globe. The Association partners with governments, educational institutions, various NGOs, corporations, businesses and individuals, to develop and promote programs of personal development. The IAHV encourages the practice of human values in everyday life. IAHV along with its sister organization, The Art of Living has one of the largest volunteer-based networks in the world. It has reached over 20 million people in over 151 countries from all walks of life with a wide range of social, economic, cultural and educational activities. IAHV works in special consultative status with the Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations, participating in a variety of committees and activities, related to health and conflict resolution.
