The 10th Corporate Culture and Spirituality, India Conference emphasizes the role of spirituality and ethics in the field of business
Bangalore, February 8, 2013: “Ethics is the foundation of any business” was the sentiment echoed by eminent business leaders, global heads and parliamentarians at the 10th edition of the ‘Corporate Culture and Spirituality’, India (CCS) Conference in Bangalore. Organized and hosted jointly by Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) and The Art of Living in association with World Forum for Ethics in Business, this global event witnessed a congregation of 750 business heads to discuss role of ethics and spirituality in the business arena.
The conference was inaugurated by a distinguished panel of dignitaries such as The Art of Living founder, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar; Mr. K. V Kamath, Chairman, Infosys Limited, Executive Chairman of ICICI Bank; Mr. K. H. Muniyappa, Minister of State, MSME, Government of India; Mr. Jo Leinen, Member of European Parliament, Germany; Mr. Ananth Kumar, Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs; Mr. Nirj Deva, Member (United Kingdom Representative), European Parliament; Mr. Yezdi Batliwala, Chairman, Vyakti Vikas Kendra, India; Mr. Shiva Shanmugam, President FKCCI."

Setting the tone of the conference, Gurudev in his address said,” Just as you need both scissors and a needle to make a garment, similarly business and spirituality go hand in hand. One cuts and the other joins and both have an important role to make the garment. In spirituality, we tap into the world of intuition which is an important aspect of success in business. He further added that there were 7 areas where Indian busiess can be tapped - Tourism, Apparel, Food, Jewelry, Ayurveda, Yoga &Spirituality and Information Technology.
Sharing his vast experience as a member of the European Parliament, Jo Leinen advocated that enterprises are responsible for their impact on the society and that businessmen integrate parliament, social, environmental and cultural aspects of a society.
Day 1 of the conference had an interesting line-up of panel discussions on topics such as ‘Spirituality and Sustained Growth and ‘The Law of Attracting Abundance’ delving into the mechanics of spirituality forming the basis of any business.
Day 2 of the conference will hold a special session titled ‘Advantage Karnataka’ which will highlight Karnataka as a major investment destination aimed towards development of industry and commerce in the State. Sessions of Day 2 will be chaired by Mr. Mohandas Pai, Chairman Manipal, Global Education; Mr. H. V. Raghuram, Managing Director, Karnataka Udyog Mitra; Mr. Sudeesh Venkatesh, Chief People Officer; Azim Premji Foundation, Ms. Anne Marie Lizin, Former Honorary President of Belgian State, Mr. Jan Creemers, Mayor, Maaseik, Belgium.
