Bellandur, 29 April, 2014. Art of Living Founder Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar visited Bellandur in Bangalore East on 29 April 2014 to lead a Mahasatsang, an evening of music, meditation and interaction with the participants. Gurudev addressed the gathering on the theme of “Live Well, Work Happy” and spoke about how to achieve a happy balance between life and work. He also led a guided meditation.
Speaking to the gathering of around 5,000, Gurudev told the audience, “We should create a wave of happiness in Bangalore. It has got the name of ‘suicide capital of India.’ We should work towards making it the “smiling capital of the country.’” He also told the sizeable number of IT employees and the businessmen present that if they or their employees faced issues at their workplace, the Art of Living could teach them meditation to combat stress and increase efficiency.
Mr. Aravind Limbavali, MLA, Mahadevapura was the Chief Guest for the event. Mr. Venkatswamy Reddy, of the BJP also attended the event.
In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, stress and tension can build up if one does not make an effort to strike a balance between personal life and career. This affects us physically, mentally and emotionally. Hence the Art of Living hosted this event for all interested citizens to avail of an interaction with Gurudev on this vital topic of stress-relief measures for a more healthful life. The fact is neither at home nor at school are we taught how to deal with our mind and our emotions, or how to come out of the state of being depressed, angry, jealous or tense. Yoga and meditation can help us remedy this situation.
Speaking on the reason for organizing the event, Mr. Jaydev Vyas from Art of Living, Bellandur, said, “Today, everyone from a housewife to a CEO, have to balance personal life and work, and deal with stress. We are happy to organize this event so that the people here can directly interact with Gurudev and have their queries and concerns answered.”
Around 5000 people in Bellandur have benefited from the various Art of Living's stress elimination programs like the Happiness Program, ART Excel and Youth Empowerment Seminar, in Bellandur. Art of Living has also organised free medical camps, voter-registration drives, and free stress-relief courses for the under-privileged in this area. In May, the organization will hold a programme called “May I Meditate” for micro, small and medium enterprises so that the employees in these sectors can experience the benefits of meditation.(http://iexcelilead.org/meditate/)
