Yoga is an ancient Indian body of knowledge that dates back more than 5000 years. The word "Yoga" came from the Sanskrit word "yuj" which means "to unite or integrate." Today, a greater awareness of heath is attracting people from all over the world to look for ways to bring about better physical health and contentment in mind and looking for simpler and more natural alternatives to achieve this.
Sri Sri Yoga is a celebration of the diversity in Yoga in a simple and joyful manner. It combines yoga essentials - breathing techniques, stretching and postures, meditation and relaxation, and yogic knowledge. By incorporating all these beautiful facets of yoga we are able to look deep beyond the level of the physical body and really sharpen our sensitivity and awareness of subtler levels of existence. Practice of Sri Sri Yoga cultivates a more healthy and happy lifestyle.
On a physical level, Yogic exercises strengthen, lengthen and replenish muscle tissues, which helps hold bones and align the whole body. Holding postures burns fat and reduces cholesterol. Yogic breathing brings more oxygen to the heart and nourishes the whole system. The breath work also aids in reducing toxin levels in the body by expelling unwanted stresses.
Yoga’s greatest benefits are felt in the mind. People are no longer content with an attractive figure but have begun to realize the value of a peaceful mind. Even though the practice of Yoga will definitely improve one’s physical appearance, the radiance of a Yogi’s smile and energetic eyes are the best rewards that one seek in life.
The Art of Living Foundation has realized the urgent need not only for Yoga but also for extensively trained and qualified yoga instructors. The Sri Sri Yoga Teacher Training Program is an excellent opportunity not only for those interested in teaching yoga, but also for those who would just like to enrich their spiritual experiences and bring more discipline in their practice. Your mind, body and soul will shine!
