Learn how Spencer Delisle debunked the external happiness myths, and how SKY Breath Meditation helped to tap into true, long-lasting joy.
There came a time in my life where I felt I had achieved everything on the outside. I had a degree in Biochemistry and was working in a lab. I spent my days mixing testers, and basically trying my best not to burn the place down :D
I had a nice car, a nice house, a nice salary—everything seemed really perfect! I checked off all the boxes and thought I had everything I needed to be happy. But the only problem was, that I wasn’t actually happy!
Society tells us that we need to have this, this, and that to feel that true fulfillment. Only then will we feel really happy. But there I was with so much of that success, and I still didn’t feel it.
One goal got accomplished, and it just turned into the desire of achieving a new one. It’s like I was in this rat race where I constantly chased something I could never get a hold of.
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness
That’s the declaration of independence. But my question is: Why do I have to keep pursuing it? Why do I have to keep running after it?
Babies don’t need a reason to smile, yet they’re always so happy. It’s inherent in their nature! So I thought, there’s gotta be a way to live in this space. And I wanted to find out how.
I left my job and spent some time traveling abroad, discovering different places around the world. When I got back, I really found what I had been looking for. I discovered the Art of Living’s SKY Breath Meditation course.
There was an immediate change in my state of mind
The breathing and meditation had such a profound effect that I became really intrigued. I started practicing regularly and joined the community. I signed up for the more advanced programs and kept soaking it all in.
I finally started to feel that I was living life as I had always imagined possible. Not as an intellectual concept, but as an actual experience. It’s so amazing how something so simple could be so profound and effective.
I eventually became an instructor, and here I am now, working and volunteering full-time with the Art of Living. I have this sense of feeling so full and happy that I’ll never be able to truly give back everything that I’ve received. But I’m going to give it my best shot!
