Ladakh Flood Relief

On 5th August 2010, Ladakh witnessed a cloudburst, flash floods and mudslides, leaving 197 dead, including 10 army personnel.

The first step was to supply water filters and relief material to 1000 affected families. Next, the volunteers began trauma relief workshops in two camps, over 150 people have benefitted from the workshops.

Hon. N.N. Vohra, Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, was so impressed by the efforts of the Art of Living Foundation, that he invited Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Founder of the Art of Living Foundation, to meet with separatist leaders in the region to help mediate an ongoing conflict.

Future plans

Local residents will be trained in conducting trauma relief workshops and youth leaders will be created who will help sustain the community in the long run.
