On Going Support For The Girl Child Education

The International Women’s Conference has been supporting Girl Child Education ever since its inception in 2005. The number of students and the number of schools have been on a constant rise with the support of the seven Intertional Women’s Conferences held in the last 10 years. A special school for over 100 girls was started in Rajasthan in an area where girls are deprived of basic amenities and education, very recently. Around 4500 girls have recieved senior level education in 20 states out of which, 2 girls are now doctors, while others are pusuing higher education to become doctors, architects, lawyers, engineers, and many want to take the path of spirituality and become agents for social change.

Gift A Smile - Lakshmi C. A.

As a project initiative of International Women’s conference 2009, it was decided to support Ms. Lakshmi C. A. to pursue her dream to become an Ayuvedic doctor. Her personal economical status did not allow to study more than she already had. Our efforts to encourage and support Ms. Lakshmi C. A. have now frutified and she proudly graduated as a Doctor from Sri Sri College of Ayurvedic Science and research in 2015.

Tree Plantation

The 7th International Women’s Conference in Bali began with a tribute to Mother Nature. Our Chairperson, Mrs Bhanumathi Narsimhan, the deputy Governor of Indonesia & the H’ble Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Welfare, Indonesia, Ibu Yohana Yembise, planted 500 trees, in support of the “Go Green” initiative of the Government of Bali. This initiative had support echoed by the entire IWC team, guest and dignitaries at the conference. Going with the theme of the conference, “The Butterfly Effect”, this act of support for the environment was indeed a wonderful start to greater beginnings.

Bee Campaign

The 7th International Women’s Conference highlighted the danger of extinction faced by the honeybee which has sustained food agriculture for over 4500 years. Experts talked about the extensive use harmful pesticides for agriculture and the resultant danger to the pollinators in the current times, in the conference. Discussions on environmental issues, Save the Bee signature campaign, and discussions on initiatives take up by the Art of Living to Save the Bee in various parts of the world, provided a platform to form strategies that could help protect the bees from extinction. Educating people about endangered pollinators, harmful pesticides, various methods of bee keeping and honey production were concluded as imperative ways to save the bee.
