This thought just occurred to me some time back. A king does not have any friends, and a saint has no enemies. A king will be at a disadvantage if he begins to have friends. Similarly, if a saint has enemies, then he too will be at a loss in some way or the other.
If a king has friends, then there is a chance that his decisions will be influenced by favoritism for his friends, instead of being for the greater good of the people. If a king starts having too many friends, then he will not remain impartial and people will not get fair justice from him. Is it not so?
One should not get too close to a king, and one should never go too far away from a wise saint. Those who get too close to a king or too far away from the company of a wise saint will surely lose out in some way or the other.
Terrorists are a big problem in the world. That is why the Bhagavad Gita is so relevant even today.
The Bhagavad Gita never says that if you get a slap, show the other cheek and just accept it, no! If someone is slapping you, you take out your bow and arrow and shoot them right away, but not with vengeance or hatred, with calmness. With the intention of teaching a lesson to the other person. That is why Lord Krishna said, 'Mayi sarvani karmani samnyasyadhyatmacetasa nirasirnirmamo bhutva yudhyasva vigatajvarah' (3.30)
It means, go and fight the evil being established in yoga.
'Jai Gurudev!' That’s a good thing to say to everybody, at anytime and for anything. Good morning, good night, welcome, goodbye, oh my god! For everything you can say, ‘Jai Gurudev’. And when things don’t happen, even then you can say, ‘Jai Gurudev', or, 'Om Namah Shivaya'.
If your head is filled with too many thoughts, lie down on the floor and keep rolling and you will see the circulation in the body improves. When circulation improves then the mind feels better. That is the reason they do shayana pradakshinam (a form of worship done by rolling on the floor). Experience it and see how there is a change in your mind.
It was a part of the course in the olden days. In Canada, there were grass hills and people would roll on the hill. It was very safe, no stones around, only grass. When you roll on the ground, all fears and anxiety will go away.
You should just let go and not find a cause to everything because your understanding is very limited.
As we grow, our understanding changes, mind changes, and perception changes. So, whatever level of perception you are at now and if you analyze that too much, you will get stuck to that perception and you will not be able to grow. Your will grow older but you will have the same old paradigms. Not analyzing at all is no good, and too much analysis is also no good.
Yes, that’s wrong. I don’t approve of people killing any animal. Many migratory birds have arrived in the ashram this year. Storks and Pelicans have come to the lake for the first time. They like a good environment, or perhaps there was no water elsewhere. This is very good.
We should tell the Environment Department that fishing should not be allowed in the lake because so many birds have come. If they shoot in the air, the birds will get scared.
You give comfort to people, don’t question them and don’t expect comfort from them. We should not expect people at home to give us pep talks all the time. Life is like that, sometimes you get angry, sometimes you’re happy, you laugh, you cry, you smile. You exhibit all the emotions in life; this is a normal phenomenon. Don’t sit and worry about it. There are so many other things you can do. There is no point in wasting time trying to change people at home.
