H.H.Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s concerns for environment protection, and mitigating the effects of global warming translated into an action-oriented confluence of non-governmental organizations.
At the ‘Sangam 2008’ conference, held at the Art of Living International Center, (Bangalore), about 600 delegates deliberated on collaborating to achieve the eight Millennium Development Goals.
H.H.Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar outlined his vision for the world in his address: “A violence-free world, disease-free body, prejudice-free mind, and a loving environment are the birthrights of every individual.”
The conference also emphasized social justice where NGOs were provided with a direct interface with the Indian judicial system.
'Sangam' was the first conference of its kind where the Judicial System was in interface with the civil societies not only through the special joint session but also in all the working sessions where the judges from NALSA (National Legal Services Authority) were on the chair.
