H.H.Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar visited the flood-hit areas of Purnia, and Madhepura in Bihar on September 25, 2008 to take stock of the relief activities, and bring solace to the flood-affected victims.

As he surveyed the worst affected areas walking in knee-deep water, H.H.Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar counseled the victims, urging them to have courage, and remain optimistic.

He visited the Jankinagar Phulwari camp in Purnia, where the Art of Living is taking care of nearly 5,000 people. “Under these trying circumstances, make the best use of your stay in the camps,” he told a 10,000-strong crowd from the nearby 50 villages that had gathered at Purnia.

To help the victims utilize their time at the camps, H.H.Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said the Art of Living would provide vocational training to women, and teach reading, and writing to the illiterate. The Art of Living is also reaching out to more remote, inaccessible areas which are still submerged under water.
