In response to questions about fear of uncertainty and building confidence, Gurudev shared the following:

Learn from past experiences

For uncertainty, see life from a bigger perspective.

If you have had this fear before, how did you overcome that? If you are worried today, look back and see, five, ten, fifteen years back. Did you worry?

You're still alive. You have overcome the past. Looking at your own life pattern gives you confidence. You say, "I have had this many times. I will move through it."

Tips on facing fear of the unknown

You can use any of these four tips.

  1. See that this tough situation will pass. It won't stay. Bad times are temporary.
  2. Say to yourself that everything changes, so this will also change.
  3. Remember you have the energy, courage, and strength to handle it.
  4. What you can't do by effort, you can do by prayer. Know you're not alone. Have faith in the help, protection, and guidance of a higher power.

Connectivity with infinity brings strength

infinity
It's hard to say you don't believe in anything, because at least you believe what you're saying. Just know who you are. You're not the body, mind, thoughts, or emotions.

When you go on this journey of finding who you are, you find a huge ocean of energy within you.

You feel such a connection with the entire cosmos and say, "Wow!" When your words fail, you're in wonder of union with the whole universe.

The drop of water feels like it's part of the ocean. Then, it has no fear of extinction. If it is on a plate under the sun, it can only stay for a few moments. But the ocean never dries up.

Ego and perfectionism

A sense of connectivity with the infinite divinity makes a huge difference. In your ego, include everybody! Instead of saying I, say we.

Trying to get rid of the ego is a big problem. It's like trying to chase a cat in a dark room when it isn't there. Be natural. Don't worry. If you find you have an ego, put it in your pocket.

In running to become perfect, we become imperfect. You get upset because you see imperfection in others. You can't handle or tolerate that. The nature of perfection is to not tolerate imperfection anywhere.

But perfectionism becomes a noose around our necks. We get so stressed out. We become even more imperfect than the so-called imperfect people. We get angry.

Anger is punishing yourself

Your brain is boiling. Your blood pressure and sugar levels are rising. Your endocrine system is going nuts. Your whole system is rattled. Sleep and appetite are gone, or you keep stuffing yourself. It takes a big toll on your health.

Don't keep punishing yourself every time someone makes a mistake. Don't be too hard on yourself.

People make mistakes because they're not as evolved, informed, or educated as you are. Give them time to grow up. Educate them and ignore them.

Keep smiling even in the toughest moments in life! The ability to smile at any time may be the biggest achievement of your life!
