LOS ANGELES, CA – June 8, 2023 – The Art of Living Foundation Los Angeles Center is delighted to announce the upcoming planting of a Miyawaki micro forest on Saturday, June 10, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This transformative initiative aims to offset the Art of Living's carbon footprint, enhance the air quality in the neighborhood, which is encircled by highways, and promote peace and wellness among local residents.
The Miyawaki method, pioneered by Japanese botanist Dr. Akira Miyawaki, is a proven approach to rapidly establish native forests in urban areas. By densely planting a diverse assortment of native trees, shrubs, and plants, the micro forest promotes ecological balance and significantly contributes to the local ecosystem.
South Central Los Angeles has long been grappling with air pollution due to its proximity to major highways. The Art of Living Foundation, known for its commitment to environmental sustainability and holistic well-being, recognizes the urgent need to address these issues. By planting this micro forest, they hope to improve air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide and other pollutants, while releasing fresh oxygen into the surrounding environment.
Moreover, the micro forest will bring numerous benefits to the local community. Research has shown that spending time in green spaces can enhance mental health, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being. By creating an oasis of tranquility amidst the bustling cityscape, the Art of Living Foundation aims to offer a sanctuary for residents to relax, rejuvenate, and find solace.
The planting event will take place at the Art of Living Foundation Los Angeles Center, located at 948 W Adams Blvd. Volunteers from the community, along with members of the foundation, will participate in the planting process under the guidance of environmental experts. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the Miyawaki method and its positive impact on the environment.
Members of the media are cordially invited to attend and cover this momentous occasion. Interviews will be available with representatives from the Art of Living Foundation, local residents, and environmental experts to discuss the significance of the Miyawaki micro forest and its potential for mitigating the effects of urbanization on both the environment and the community.
