H.H.Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar hosted a landmark conference in New Delhi as an endeavor to end social discrimination based on one’s birth.
The initiative has been hailed as an intervention that would help Indian society develop as a democratic society, and free itself from the shackles of the past.
At the 'Truth & Reconciliation Conference', a large number of Dalit, and upper caste Hindu leaders vowed to end untouchability in India. They adopted a seven-point action plan to this effect.
Addressing the gathering of over 5,000 people including leaders of about 25 communities, H.H.Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said, "We need to make people realize that discrimination is not sanctioned by religion. It's time to move forward, and not to reel in past mistakes.”
