A group of spiritual seekers in Boone, North Carolina asked Gurudev about angels and karma. Here’s a snippet of the conversation:
Secrets about angels
In the Christian tradition there’s the concept of guardian angels watching over us. Does each one of us have one or several, and if so, are they in the subtle realm or do they have a body?
There are angels for every city. There are angels for musicians, and they have a specific energy. They bring a lot of fame and wealth but not happiness.
In general, artists have problems in their personal lives. They’re not happy, but they bring happiness to others. Without these types of angels, there can’t be famous artists.
But if they walk the spiritual path and find a teacher, then their misery disappears. Then, they become happy.
Similarly, wealthy people have an archangel. They often have some issues with their progeny. The first generation might be okay but the second generation may have issues, like no peace of mind. Again, when they walk the spiritual path, then they’ll get over their karma of pain and be happy.
Politicians have another type of angel.
There’s one angel to take care of each particular place, and every family has its own archangel. If you go into this field it’s so deep, so vast, and very fascinating.
Coming on the spiritual path, you get over all of this karma, such as personal, family, and community karma, as well as karma of time. Each time has a different pattern of karma. All of that can be crossed over, or sailed through.
How to attract angels
Is there something we can do to feel the presence of angels? How do we encourage them to be with us?
Now, first of all, you don't need to feel their presence, because you are one angel.
The second thing is when you’re centered, with a kind heart and a selfless attitude of service to society, they flock around you like iron to a magnet. A magnet doesn’t have to think about what it needs to do to pull the iron filings towards it. It just happens.
Human life is very precious in the sense that it brings a lot of good vibrations to almost every species on earth as well as to the subtle level of angels. Your meditation, your kind-heartedness, all bring such solace and joy to angels.
Don’t think they only give you comfort and joy; they receive a lot of joy from you, too. It’s two-way communication.
When you’re centered, all of the beautiful energies and all of the angels in the world love you and come close to you.
You need to be centered and not think, “What about me? What about me?” Forget about yourself. Do what you can for the planet and for people.
When goodness arises, godliness dawns by itself.
When loved ones pass away
When a loved one passes on, do they live in alternate universes? Do they become our angels?
All is possible. They do have another dimension and that dimension depends on their cravings and aversions, their impressions of their lives. But for the first few days after death, the soul is so confused.
For a couple of days once they’ve left this universe, they haven’t yet become used to the other side. They’re in a confused state.
It takes a little while for them to get accustomed to another realm. But once they get there, they send you blessings.
