THREE-STAGE BREATHING®

The Benefits of Deep Breathing Practices
If you’re looking for more calm, inner peace, and joie-de-vivre (with reduced stress and anxiety!), deep breathing exercises could be your answer.
According to Time Health, Breathwork is the Fastest Way to Calm Down.
Of course, we’re not talking about regular breathing here. We’re talking about deep breathing known as pranayama. Let’s look at what that means:
Prana → Universal life force energy.
Ayama → To direct.
In essence, this ancient Sanskrit word reveals that deep breathing exercises have the ability to quickly increase energy and release stress. It’s the prana (or energy, or Qi) within us that nourishes the mind and keeps the body alive. The quantity, quality, and flow of this prana determine one’s state of mind and health.
If the prana level is high: The flow is continuous, smooth, and steady, creating a calm, positive, and enthusiastic mind.
If the prana level is low: One experiences increased worries, fear, uncertainty, tensions, conflict, and other negative qualities.
It’s quite normal for the prana to drop throughout the day, and this is where breathing practices become especially important. Rather than falling victim to daily stresses and midday work fatigue, you can raise your mood and energy levels with just a few short minutes of conscious breathwork.

Discover SKY’s Three-Stage Breathing® Technique.
As part of the overall evidence-based SKY Breath Meditation practice, Three-Stage Breathing® is an important technique that prepares you for the deep cleanse experienced with SKY. It’s considered step one of the SKY journey (after getting comfy and closing your eyes!), and delivers a wide range of benefits to harmonize the energy throughout the body, including stress management and spiritual growth.
Utilizing the Ujjayi breathing technique (also known as Victory Breath or Ocean Breath), the arms are placed in specific locations to create openings within the superior, middle, and inferior lobes of the lungs. This increases lung capacity and oxygenates areas that are otherwise left behind with regular breathing.
The long, deep inhalations and smooth, steady exhalations rejuvenate and harmonize the entire mind-body system, giving it a healthy dose of high prana! It’s a wonderful way to effectively instill deep calm—and if that sounds good, guess what? It keeps getting better and better once the rhythmical SKY breathing journey begins! Because remember, this is just step one.
