Yoga is an ancient Indian physical, mental, and spiritual practice which is the union of body, breath, and mind. Yoga is a state of harmony at every level of existence. Recognizing its universal appeal, on December 11th, 2014, the United Nations proclaimed June 21st as the International Day of Yoga.

IDY 2016
Millions around the globe celebrated the spirit of yoga with The Art of Living during the second International Day of Yoga. Yoga sessions based on the common yoga protocol were held in prisons, corporate offices (about 1000 locations), cargo ships, schools for specially-abled children, the Indo-Pak border and other locations.
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar inaugurated the International Day of Yoga Celebrations at the European Parliament, Brussels where he also interacted with parliament members in a Q&A session and conducted a guided meditation at the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin Hall.Read more
IDY 2015
The first International Day of Yoga witnessed millions of people come together to celebrate the spirit of yoga with much fervor. Yogathons organized by The Art of Living saw yoga enthusiasts from 132 countries rise up to the occasion and practice yoga at their local venues.
While speaking at the United Nations headquarters in New York, Gurudev addressed a host of eminent dignitaries, including the UN General Secretary, Ban Ki-moon, and Union Minister of External Affairs of India, Sushma Swaraj, amongst others. WHAT IS SUN NEVER SETS ON YOGA?
The 'Sun Never Sets On Yoga' is a unique global initiative of The Art of Living to welcome the Sun with yoga. As a part of this initiative, Surya Namaskars were planned at sunrise around the world. In 2015, as over 132 countries participated to celebrate and salute this ancient practice that has stood the test of time.

- The Art of Living Yogathon on 14 December 2014 saw over 1.8 million people participate only in India.
- In the year 2013, Yogathon went global with participation by over 25 nations.
- The first National level Art of Living Yogathon was organized in India on World Health Day, 7th April 2012, which saw over 1.3 million people’s participation.
