Documentation of the projects would not only serve to keep track of the activities but also provide encouragement, sharing of experiences and know-how as well as incorporating lessons learned for future service. “Service organizations can be more streamlined in processes and documentation. Ours is a volunteer-based organization and many times people take up and implement great projects but it's hardly documented. Very often, I myself come to know later what project they did,” says Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of The Art of Living.
Just as those who spearhead service activities are the yuvacharyas – young people dedicated to service, Seva Times is also run by yuvacharyas.
Graduates of the Youth Leadership Training Programme, a group of yuvacharyas from across India have been trained to report, write and document service activities. Seva Times has a print component that is published once a month. This is the online section that provides service in real-time, as it is happening.
