How can intuitive decision making unlock a fulfilling career

Tight deadlines, heavy workloads, job insecurity, economic instability, monotonous work, unrealistic demands, harassment, and poor interpersonal relationships are some of the work pressures. These pressures are paralyzing. Isn’t it?

It is challenging to have a growing career graph in such a scenario. But we know some still achieve immense career growth amidst these pressures.

“Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. You somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

- Steve Jobs

The inspiring news is that intuitive decision-making can be a game-changer. People call it by various names gut feelings, sixth sense, hunch, inner voice, inner light, instinct, forethought, telepathy, foresight, clairvoyance, premonition, extrasensory perception and divination.

Facts revealed

ResearchGate concluded two points:

First, intuition resulted in interest forecasts that were more predictive of actual interest than done by conscious or rational methods.

Second, interest levels were recalled more correctly by participants who made choices by intuition than only rationally.

Vilayanur Subramanian Ramachandran, an Indian-American neuroscientist, stated: We rely more on intuition in doing simple experiments because if you rely on fancy medical imaging, you become less creative.

What is intuitive decision-making?

Intuition means an immediate apprehension beyond reason. The decision made based on intuition is intuitive decision-making. It is deeper and closer to the truth, reality. Intuitive decision-making is one of the most significant styles of decision-making strategies for career success. Intuitive decisions are beneficial in entrepreneurship, ideation, creativity, and selling.

Evidence of intuitive decision-making for career success

  1. Instinct always guides.

At 17, Ritesh Agarwal started Oyo rooms. Before starting Oyo, the college dropout graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy) and was planning to pursue Engineering Entrance Examinations. The enthusiast businessman believes instinct always guides investors in backing the right entrepreneur.

  1. No idea ever executed itself.

Someone has to believe in that idea and invest resources like time, effort and money to bring career success. One such investor is Mr. Ritesh Mamodiya, an intuitive entrepreneur, angel investor and startup catalyst. Ritesh Mamodiya tasted success in every field he ventured into during his 20 years of business career. One has to agree that being an intuitive entrepreneur, Mamodiya knows how and when to place his bets.

  1. Intuitive v/s impulsive.

Vishwanathan Anand, the chess grandmaster and five-time world champion, believes that to grow as a chess player, you need to stay intuitively as opposed to impulsive.
