Shed The Past For Peace, Ravi Shankar Tells Sri Lankans

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar urged Sri Lankans to 'drop the past' if they seek genuine reconciliation after three decades of conflict.

COLOMBO: Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on Tuesday urged Sri Lankans to "drop the past" if they seek genuine reconciliation after three decades of conflict.

"For reconciliation, you need to drop the past and move ahead," the Art of Living founder told the media.

"For that, you need inner strength. Spirituality can give you that strength. That’s what we promise to do," he added.

He said it was necessary to bring about a much-needed healing touch to the Tamil population. "I am ready to do whatever is necessary to achieve this goal."

Ravi Shankar later met President Maithripala Sirisena, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe.

On a two-day visit to Sri Lanka, he will inaugurate the Seetha Eliya Amman Temple at Nuwera Elia on May 18.
