Sri Sri Ravi Shankar In
Imphal To Preach Peace

Imphal: Spiritual leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has stressed on the need to bring peace, tranquillity and prosperity in strife-torn Manipur. The Art of Living (AOL) founder landed at Imphal airport on an Air Asia flight on Sunday morning on his three-day visit to Manipur. Hundreds of his devotees, peace lovers and well wishers greeted him with garlands.

A top leader of a rebel group that has recently signed a ceasefire pact with the Centre and the state government recently was one of the devotees greeting the spiritual leader.

The global peace ambassador, whose wants to see the whole world united as one family, is likely to meet chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh and discuss various peace initiatives, said an AOL functionary.

"I would like to meet people and talk to them to understand issues. We would like to find a solution," the spiritual guru said minutes after landing here.

"This place needs prosperity because it is full of wealth but people are poor. We need prosperity and progress. It can only come with peace. So, I am all committed to bring prosperity and peace here," he added.

A sea of humanity from 150 countries had gathered in Delhi to catch a glimpse of him during the historic world culture festival held in the national capital in March. Gurudev will also interact with political leaders of the state.

Former chief minister Radhabinod Koijam, chairman of the reception committee set up for Gurudev's Manipur stint, said the leader would interact with leaders of various civil bodies of the state in Imphal on Sunday evening in an event based on the theme 'Harmony in diversity'.
