When does the soul enter the body?
Q. When does the soul enter the body? Where is the soul? And how big is the soul?
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: If I ask where you are in your body, what would you say? I am everywhere and yet nowhere and that is exactly the soul. Soul is that energy, that vibration. It is not a substance. It's the light. At the time of conception, this energy comes in sometimes at the third month or ninth month, or when the child is being born. The soul, the vibrations can change three-four times in the total period of nine months.
Q. Where does this soul come from?
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: In this space, there is CNN, there is Fox News, there is BBC, there is Doordarshan and all other different waves. Whatever you tune into will start manifesting in your Boombox right in your tube or your TV. Our bodies are just like the Boombox. It just manifests certain frequencies. Usually at the time of conception, the soul stays on. However sometimes it can also happen that after some time, that soul gives space to another soul.
Q. When our body dies, does our soul go into another body? Does it stay in space for a while?
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: Yes, it stays in space for a while.
Q. Then it re-enters another physical form?
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: Yes.
Q. Is it another human form?
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: Mostly.
Q. Can it be an animal form?
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: It is very rare for the soul to enter an animal body. However it is possible. It depends on your last thought with which you leave the body? If your last thought is about your poultry farm, you may find yourself in the poultry farm.
Q. How many body forms do you think one Soul enters?
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: There is no criteria. According to The Vedic thought, it is 84 lakh forms and bodies that the soul enters.
Q. Do we have the same Soul in the next life, or does the soul evolve into something else?
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: The soul is the energy which has some impressions and if you leave the body with its strongest memories and impressions, then that's with you like a balloon. And when you get a new body, those qualities or impressions manifest. There are many child prodigies. You'll see small young children playing the violin when they are 3 or 4 years old.
Q. Does the soul stay on planet earth or does a soul go into different places in the universe? Does it have that potential?
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: The soul is like energy waves, vibrations. They cannot be restricted to any locations anywhere. When we get into meditation and get into this new dimension that we have not been aware of in our own life, a whole new world opens up suddenly. It not only makes you happy but also brings up that curiosity within you. So much more new information that can keep you fascinated for the rest of your life.
Q. Can you recall a meditation experience for you that blew your mind?
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: Every meditation is wow because it is going from a happening space to a space which originates all happenings.
Q. What is that space?
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: That's something which cannot be described. You cannot describe it in words. That's why it is wow, and awe is something which words cannot explain. You can feel it.
